Backblaze Acceptable Use Policy

Backblaze strives to maintain a great Service. To that end, you must comply with the limitations below and may not use the Service in a manner that violates our Terms of Service, applicable policies, or any of the following restrictions.

Backblaze may suspend or terminate your account for violations of this policy. Where practicable, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to cure. However, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate immediately and without prior notice where we reasonably believe the violation (a) involves illegal activity, (b) poses a risk to the security or integrity of our Service or systems, (c) exposes Backblaze or our users to legal liability, or (d) involves child sexual abuse material (“CSAM”) or non-consensual intimate imagery.

Backblaze reserves the right to act on reported violations of this policy.

You may not:

Illegal Activity and Prohibited Content

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
• Store, publish, share, or transmit content that constitutes CSAM, or that sexually exploits or promotes the sexual exploitation of minors.
• Store, publish, share, or transmit another person's intimate imagery without their authorization for purposes of harassing, exposing, harming, or exploiting them.
• Store, share, or transmit content that infringes or misappropriates the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrighted works, trademarks, or other proprietary materials, without authorization.
• Store or share another person's confidential or identifying information without authorization for purposes of harassing, harming, or exploiting them.
• Send altered, deceptive, or false source-identifying information, including spoofing or phishing.
• Engage in any form of payment fraud, including unauthorized use of payment methods or illegitimate chargebacks.

Service Integrity and Security

• Use the Service in any way that does or could disrupt, disable, or impair the functioning of the Service, or materially degrade the Service for other users, including by interfering with any software, hardware, or equipment.
• Store or use the Service to host or distribute malware, or in support of phishing, spam, or similar activities.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems or networks.
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems or networks, except as expressly permitted under a written agreement with us (such as an authorized bug bounty program).
• Monitor or copy any material on the Service, either manually or through automated means (e.g., scraping), without prior written consent.
• Use the Service in a manner that disproportionately consumes resources or exceeds reasonable usage patterns, as determined by Backblaze.

Service Use Restrictions

• Access or use the Service in a manner inconsistent with its intended purpose.
• Sell, resell, license, sublicense, distribute, rent, or lease any Service, without prior written authorization from Backblaze.
• Use the Service as the basis for any blockchain, distributed ledger, or similar consensus mechanism that relies on allocated storage capacity, without prior written authorization from Backblaze.
• Use the Service to access, review, or analyze the Service or its performance for the benefit of any competitor, or to perform competitive analysis for publication, without prior written authorization from Backblaze.
• Reverse engineer the Service (to the extent such restriction is permitted by law).
• Use Backblaze intellectual property except as permitted under the Terms of Service or any written agreement with Backblaze.
• Circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, storage space limits, pricing, or other Service restrictions.
• Misuse "unlimited" Services, including by backing up or storing data beyond the scope of the Service's intended use, such as connecting the Computer Backup Service to servers, NAS devices, or data centers, or using the Computer Backup Service for infrastructure or workloads outside of supported devices.
• Use the Service beyond the number of devices, users, or storage scope permitted under your plan, including sharing accounts or extending use to unauthorized devices.
• Use the Service for purposes outside its intended design, including long-term archival storage, full system imaging, or storage of data not associated with active user devices.

Account Obligations

• Fail to pay for the Service for more than fifteen (15) days past the payment due date, unless the payment is being disputed in good faith.
• Harass or abuse Backblaze personnel, representatives, or agents.
