A CDN server located near end users at the outer edge of a network.
Edge servers hold cached copies of content retrieved from an origin store. Their geographic distribution allows content to travel a shorter distance when responding to a request.
Serving data from the edge improves website and application performance while reducing demand on the origin. If the requested content is unavailable or expired, the edge server retrieves a current copy from the origin store.
