    Article summary

Backblaze Computer Backup provides client software and support for multiple operating systems.

    Windows

    • Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit)*
    • Windows 8 (32-bit and 64-bit)
    • Windows 10 (32-bit and 64-bit)
    • Windows 11 (Windows 11 offers 64-bit only)

*The Backblaze Computer Backup restore application does not support Windows 7 32-bit.

    Mac OS X

    • Mavericks 10.9.x*
    • Yosemite 10.10.x*
    • El Capitan 10.11.x*
    • Mac OS X Server**

    * While still supported by Backblaze, the lack of security updates from Apple and the expiry of root security certs on these systems require additional steps.

** Unlike Windows Server, Backblaze does not restrict Mac OS X Server from backing up. However, many of Mac OS X Server's data storage locations, such as - /opt /usr /private, are not backed up to Backblaze servers. This is important if you use Mac OS X Server features like web/database hosting, and address book sharing. Remote home folders may not back up accurately to Backblaze. Your data that is primarily in typical locations, like user folders or external drives, should back up without issue. However, keep in mind that this is not officially supported by Backblaze, so it may not function optimally.

    Mac OS

    • Sierra 10.12.x
    • High Sierra 10.13.x
    • Mojave 10.14.x
    • Catalina 10.15.x
    • Big Sur 11
    • Monterey 12
    • Ventura 13
    • Sonoma 14

Backblaze includes native support for M1 Macs, however HFS+ and APFS Case-Sensitive formatted primary hard drives are not supported.
