FAQ

Is Universal Data Migration an additional paid service?

Universal Data Migration is available with qualifying Backblaze storage commitments. Depending on your migration requirements, Backblaze can help offset up to 100% of migration-related costs, including data transfer and migration services. We'll work with you to evaluate your environment and determine the best migration approach before the project begins.

How involved does my team need to be during the migration?

Backblaze takes a hands-on, partnership-driven approach to migration. Our experts work with you to plan and manage the process, helping reduce the burden on your IT team. Instead of dedicating months or years of internal resources to moving data, you can stay focused on strategic priorities while we help guide the migration.

How do you ensure my data isn't corrupted during migration?

We use byte-for-byte verification with MD5 hashing to ensure data integrity. Every file that's migrated is verified to match the source exactly. This cryptographic verification means we can mathematically prove that what arrives in Backblaze is identical to what left your source system.

What types of data sources can you migrate?

Universal Data Migration supports virtually any source, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Wasabi, NAS, SAN, file servers, LTO tape, hard drives, USB drives, and legacy archives. Our migration specialists will recommend the best approach based on your environment, data volume, and timeline.
