    Use the Unarchiver to Unzip a Restore File (Mac)

    If the default Mac utility fails when you unzip your backup file from Backblaze Computer Backup, you can use the free Mac app The Unarchiver.

    Install and Use The Unarchiver

    For the easiest installation process, open the App Store on your Mac and search for "The Unarchiver." Click Get to install the app.

    You can also download the app directly from the The Unarchiver website, and then manually install the app.

    1. On The Unarchiver website, click Download.
    2. In your Downloads folder, locate the installation file named TheUnarchiver.dmg and double-click it.
    3. In The Unarchiver dialog, drag The Unarchiver icon to the Applications folder icon.
    4. Close The Unarchiver dialog.
    5. On your Desktop, right-click The Unarchiver icon and select Eject "The Unarchiver".
    6. Delete The Unarchiver installation file by moving TheUnarchiver.dmg to the Trash.
    7. To use The Unarchiver, right-click the zipped backup file and select Open With > The Unarchiver from the menu.
