If you receive a Western Digital My Passport or an 8 TB Western Digital My Book restore drive from Backblaze, you can erase the drive before you return it to Backblaze or repurpose the drive.
Delete Files on a Formatted Restore Drive (Mac)
- Open the restore drive in Finder, and select all of the files and folders on the drive.
- Drag the files and folders to the Trash, or press Command + Delete to move them to the Trash.
- Open the Trash folder, and select all of the files and folders that you moved to the Trash from the restore drive.
- Control-click them, and select Delete Immediately.
- Click Delete to confirm the deletion.
You can also delete the entire contents of the Trash by control-clicking the Trash icon in the Dock and selecting Empty Trash. Ensure that you do not unintentionally delete other files that you may need from the Trash.
Delete Files on a Formatted Restore Drive (Windows)
- Navigate to the drive.
- Right-click the drive.
- Select Format.
- Click Start.
