Application keys control access to buckets within specific regions of your Backblaze enterprise web console organization.
Create an Application Key
- Sign in to your Backblaze organization.
- In the left navigation menu under Access Control, select Application Keys.
- Click Create App Key.
- Enter a key name with fewer than 100 characters that includes only letters, numbers, and dashes (-).
- Select the region where the application key should be applied.
The application key's access is limited to this region. - Select a specific bucket, or select All in Region.
- Select the application key’s permissions: Read and Write, Read Only, or Write Only.
- If you selected a specific bucket and want to allow the API to list all of the bucket names in the region, select List all bucket names.
This option is required for the B2 Native APIb2_list_buckets
and the S3-Compatible API S3List Buckets
operations. - (Optional) Enter a file name prefix to restrict application key access to files with that prefix.
- (Optional) Enable Expiration and enter a date when the key expires.
- Click OK, and copy or download the resulting Application Key and Key ID values.
Warning
If you close the Key Details panel without saving or downloading the Application Key, a warning is displayed. When you create a new application key, the response contains the actual key string (for example, N2Zug0evLcHDlh_L0Z0AJhiGGdY). You can always find the Key ID on the Key Details page, but for security, the Application Key appears only once. Make sure to copy or download this value and securely save it elsewhere.
Delete an Application Key
Caution
Deleting an application key may break applications that rely on it.
- In the left navigation menu under Access Control, select Application Keys.
- Select the application key that you want to delete.
- Click Delete App Key.
- Click Delete.
