    If you receive a Western Digital My Passport or an 8 TB Western Digital My Book restore drive from Backblaze, you can erase the drive before you return it to Backblaze or repurpose the drive.

    Delete Files on a Formatted Restore Drive (Mac)

    1. Open the restore drive in Finder, and select all of the files and folders on the drive.
    2. Drag the files and folders to the Trash, or press Command + Delete to move them to the Trash.
    3. Open the Trash folder, and select all of the files and folders that you moved to the Trash from the restore drive.
    4. Control-click them, and select Delete Immediately.
    5. Click Delete to confirm the deletion.

    You can also delete the entire contents of the Trash by control-clicking the Trash icon in the Dock and selecting Empty Trash. Ensure that you do not unintentionally delete other files that you may need from the Trash.

    Delete Files on a Formatted Restore Drive (Windows)

    1. Navigate to the drive.
    2. Right-click the drive.
    3. Select Format.
    4. Click Start.
