Tony Joins the Support Squad

tony

As we continue to grow, so does our Support team! The latest addition is Tony, who’ll be joining us as a junior tech support technician. He’ll be helping folks make sure their backups are up and running as expected! Let’s get to know Tony a bit better, shall we?

What is your Backblaze title?
Junior Technical Support Technician.

Where are you originally from?
The internet, CA.

What attracted you to Backblaze?
Great service, great company, great employees. Not pandering, isn’t that what we all want?

What do you expect to learn while being at Backblaze?
Much more in-depth knowledge of cloud services, coding, operating systems…tech in general.

Where else have you worked?
Retail (Read: many minimum wage mall jobs.), substitute teacher/coach/guest lecturer, theatrical fight director, theatrical electrics technician, “glorified bus stop attendant.”

Where did you go to school?
High school: central valley, California; college: San Jose State University; other: internet.

What’s your dream job?
Competitive Table Top Role Player.

Favorite place you’ve traveled?
Kauai, Hawaii.

Favorite hobby?
Games (board, video, role play, any combination thereof).

Of what achievement are you most proud?
Prepare groans. My wife. Or…getting paid to lightsaber fight on stage.

“Star Trek” or “Star Wars”?
“Star Wars.” See above question.

Coke or Pepsi?
Pepsi brand, but Coke if it’s one or the other to drink.

Favorite food?
I have been called “The Disposal” so…

Why do you like certain things?
No idea really. I can name IT for some things, but others, even I wonder, “Why? Why is that good/neat/funny!?” and have no answer for myself. The things I can identify reasons for usually involve a good story, obscure references, or multiple entendre, such as mash ups. NOT PUNS.

Anything else you’d like you’d like to tell us?
Many things, but most of them are incredibly nerdy fandom theory things that we don’t have time for, so ask me on lunch or during an outing and I will talk ad nauseam. Engage at your own risk.

We shall save our fan theory questions for slow days at the office. Welcome aboard, Tony!
