A new addition joins the Backblaze ranks! This time we went ahead and hired a Ryan, which is different than the typical Brian or Bryan that we’ve hired in the past. It’s good to diversify! Ryan is joining our support team as a Junior Support Tech. He’s jazzed about joining the Support squad and from what we’ve gathered, he’s great at Hearthstone! We’re excited for him to put his particular set of skills to good use! Let’s get to know him a bit better, shall we?
What is your Backblaze title?
Junior Support Technician.
Where are you originally from?
I was born and raised in Castro Valley, CA.
What attracted you to Backblaze?
After working for a large corporation for so long, working at a tech startup really appealed to me. I love learning new things and being put into new, challenging situations.
What do you expect to learn while being at Backblaze?
In short: a heck of a lot.
I have many years of customer service experience under my belt, but in a different capacity. I look forward to learning how to integrate the tools we have in and out of the office to provide customers with a better and easier experience.
Where else have you worked?
I previously worked at Barnes and Noble where I was a Merchandise Manager, and frequently provided support for the Nook line of devices.
Where did you go to school?
California State University, Chico.
What’s your dream job?
One where I can be challenged, have fun, and still have time for family and friends at the end of the day.
Favorite place you’ve traveled?
Cinque Terra, Italy. One of the most beautiful places in the world. I can see why my ancestors lived there!
I have many: brewing beer, music, video games, board games, and reading. I’m also an avid fan of Bay Area sports.
Of what achievement are you most proud?
I once won a chubby bunny contest (using mini donettes) with a count of 33.
