We\u2019ve spent the better part of the year building new functionality for our business and group users and are excited to release that functionality, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backblaze.com\/cloud-backup\/business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Backblaze Groups<\/a>, to the world today.<\/p>\n<p>What is a Group? Groups are a collection of computers paid for by administrators, whether it\u2019s one Backblaze account with a lot of computers, or a collection of individual accounts looking for centralized billing, Groups has you covered. Anyone that wants to administrate or pay for a collection of computers can use a Group\u2014not just businesses, but families, teams, and whoever in between. In fact, Groups seamlessly integrates with our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backblaze.com\/cloud-backup\/personal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Backblaze Computer Backup<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backblaze.com\/cloud-storage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage<\/a> as well as Backblaze Business Backup.<\/p>\n<h2>What Are Backblaze Groups?<\/h2>\n<p>A Group is a collection of Backblaze users. All Groups have billing centrally managed by an administrator and allow administrators to keep track of the Group members&#8217; backup statuses, Backblaze B2 usage, and any alerts that members may have on their Backblaze accounts. Anyone that has a Backblaze account can create a Group and invite people to join it. Once people join the Group, the Group Administrator is responsible for paying for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backblaze.com\/cloud-backup\/personal\">Computer Backup<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backblaze.com\/docs\/cloud-storage-about-backblaze-b2-cloud-storage\">B2 Cloud Storage<\/a> usage of anyone that has joined their Group. Group administrators can add and remove people as they wish, and you can have multiple Groups for different use cases.<\/p>\n<h3>Who Benefits From Groups?<\/h3>\n<p>Practically everyone, but we created Groups with different types of administrators in mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Business Owners:<\/b> Groups allows SMBs to manage, monitor, and have centralized billing for online backups on all your laptops and desktops\u2014whether they are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backblaze.com\/cloud-backup\/personal\/mac-online-backup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Macs<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backblaze.com\/cloud-backup\/personal\/windows-online-backup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PCs<\/a>. In addition, SMBs can use Groups with B2 Cloud Storage to manage their cloud-based archives.<\/li>\n<li><b>Heads of Households:<\/b> If you are the &#8220;resident IT person\u201d for your home or family, Groups will allow you to pay for and keep track of all your family\u2019s computer backups in one place.<\/li>\n<li><b>Managed Service Providers:<\/b> Responsible for IT and computer services for multiple customers? You can use Groups to set up and administer monthly, yearly, or two year billing per customer, all from one master account. In addition, each Group can be set up to be managed or unmanaged as described below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Who Can Create a Group?<\/h3>\n<p>Anyone can be considered part of a Group, whether you\u2019re an IT administrator for a Fortune 500 Company, a small business with a few computers, or the head of a household. Groups offers you the capability to centrally manage and administer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backblaze.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Backblaze accounts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Can Anyone Join My Group?<\/h3>\n<p>You control how the Group accepts individuals. Here are the major options you can choose from when creating a Group:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Backblaze Services:<\/b> The Backblaze products which Group members can use.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Computer Backup:<\/strong> Unlimited backup at just $50\/year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>B2 Cloud Storage:<\/strong> Cloud object storage at just $0.005\/GB\/month.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Both:<\/strong> The Group will cover both Computer Backup and Backblaze B2 usage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Managed or Unmanaged:<\/b> The level of oversight a Group administrator has over a member\u2019s Backblaze account.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Managed:<\/strong> Administrators can browse backup data, create restores, and update account information for users. A user must \u201copt-in\u201d by acknowledging the administrator\u2019s rights when they join a Managed Group.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Unmanaged:<\/strong> Administrators pay for the Backblaze service the Group provides but don&#8217;t manage a member\u2019s account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Group Membership:<\/b> These options determine how members can join Groups you\u2019ve created.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Restricted:<\/strong> Administrators invite users via an email or unique invitation link. Anyone attempting to join will need to be accepted by the administrator.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Domain Auto-Acceptance:<\/strong> Anyone within a certain domain (ex: @XYZcorp.com) will be automatically accepted into the Group. Anyone else attempting to join will need to be accepted by the administrator.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Auto-Accept:<\/strong> Anyone with the unique invitation link will be able to join the Group without administrator approval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>I Am a Current Backblaze Business Backup Customer, Can I Use Groups?<\/h3>\n<p>Yes. Groups is ready and available for everyone. While we anticipate that the majority of folks using Groups will be businesses, anyone with a Backblaze account is able to create and be a member of a Group.<\/p>\n<h3>Can I Have More Than One Group?<\/h3>\n<p>Of course! If you have the need for different types of Groups or just need to differentiate \u201cwho goes where\u201d by department or geographic location, you can have as many Groups as needed, and each Group can have different settings and cover different Backblaze services.
