As the Backblaze office grows, we need someone to herd all of our cats (Well, in our case, dogs). That responsibility used to fall to a bunch of people who were all really, really busy with their own workload. Now, that person is JC! And she’s doing an awesome job\u2014we even have a new refrigerator (Our previous one was broken for about a year). Let’s learn a bit more about JC, shall we?<\/p>\n

What is your Backblaze title?<\/b>
\nOffice Administrator, or She-Makes-Sure-All-Employees-Are-Hydrated-Caffeinated-And-Fed.<\/p>\n

Where are you originally from?<\/b>
\nWest Philadelphia born and raised…just kidding. I\u2019m a San Jose, California native.<\/p>\n

What attracted you to Backblaze?<\/b>
\nMy friend, Chris, has worked here for a couple of years. He\u2019s always talked about the great work environment. Backblaze offered a small, family-like atmosphere and chance to grow with and impact a company. You don\u2019t find too many opportunities like this.<\/p>\n

What do you expect to learn while being at Backblaze?<\/b>
\nMore about cloud storage<\/a> and backup. If someone could teach me how to play ukulele while I\u2019m here that would be great, too.<\/p>\n

Where else have you worked?<\/b>
\nJust about every mall in the Santa Clara County area. Memorable stores include Hot Topic, Toys \u201cR\u201d Us, and Starbucks. I also enjoy working for local theater companies and have moonlighted as a house manager, box office manager, backstage manager, and marketing assistant.<\/p>\n

Where did you go to school?<\/b>
\nI spent some time going to Sacramento State University before transferring to San Jose State University where I earned my bachelor’s of science in psychology, and a secondary bachelor’s of arts in theater arts.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your dream job?<\/b>
\nActress\/full time vlogger. I really enjoy performing and entertaining.<\/p>\n

Favorite place you\u2019ve traveled?<\/b>
\nThe United Kingdom. I was incredibly lucky to take a senior trip and do a theater tour of the UK. I enjoyed all the tourist sites as well as getting some time to enjoy productions in the West End and see a performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company.<\/p>\n

Favorite hobby?<\/b>
\nDid I mention theater? Aside from the performing arts I also enjoy playing World of Warcraft and RPGs.<\/p>\n

Of what achievement are you most proud?<\/b>
\nA couple of years ago I completed a half marathon. It\u2019s now a new goal of mine to finish a full marathon.<\/p>\n

“Star Trek” or “Star Wars”?<\/b>
\nBoth? I feel the “Star Wars” movies are far superior over the “Star Trek” movies, and I grew up watching “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”<\/p>\n

Coke or Pepsi?<\/b>
\nPepsi. This is what happens when you go to a California State University. They have an agreement with Pepsi and that\u2019s all you get.<\/p>\n

Favorite food?<\/b>
\nBurritos! It can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can fill it with leftovers. You can get creative and throw in all kinds of crazy combinations. Did you know they make sushi burritos? And it is, by far, the most convenient food to eat whilst driving.<\/p>\n

Why do you like certain things?<\/b>
\nWell, on a physical level, my reward center is activated in my basal ganglia portion of my brain, and dopamine is released creating a sense of pleasure or reward. On an emotional\/spiritual level, I usually like things because I have a connection with them.<\/p>\n

Anything else you\u2019d like you\u2019d like to tell us?<\/b>
\nI often talk about my cat, Disneyland, or YouTube. I\u2019m obsessed.<\/p>\n
