We like people who have the creativity to come up with new ways of building bigger and cheaper cloud storage\u2014yet are meticulous about the data center operations. Sound like you?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Title:<\/strong> Sr. Systems Administrator<\/p>\n<p><strong>As the Sr. Systems Administrator, your role will be to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Help plan, organize, and manage all activities of the Backblaze data centers.<\/li>\n<li>Scale operations including deploying &amp; configuring new systems &amp; networks.<\/li>\n<li>Troubleshoot and resolves operational problems.<\/li>\n<li>Implement security measures required by corporate security policies.<\/li>\n<li>Help create, maintain, and improve operational shell scripts and manual procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Install new software patches, releases and system upgrades.<\/li>\n<li>Perform system backups and recovery as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain monitoring system to measure system availability and detect issues.<\/li>\n<li>Help hire and train IT staff as needed, including those in remote locations.<\/li>\n<li>Continuously increase operational efficiency.<\/li>\n<li>Continuously improve Backblaze Storage Pods.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the pager rotation and respond to alerts as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Handle daily operational tasks including reading logs and replacing drives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Want to join our team? <\/strong><br \/>\nEmail <a href=\"&#109;ai&#108;t&#111;&#58;j&#111;b&#115;co&#110;&#116;act&#64;b&#97;ckbla&#122;e&#46;&#99;&#111;m\">&#106;&#111;bsco&#110;tact&#64;&#98;a&#99;kb&#108;az&#101;.&#99;om<\/a> with the subject &#8220;Sr. Systems Administrator,&#8221; include your resume, and include an answer to the question: &#8220;How would you manage boot image and system configurations on 1,000+ storage servers (i.e. Backblaze Storage Pods)?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Note: Position is in the San Francisco Bay Area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UPDATE: this position has been filled by Kirk!
