We’ve never had an intern in the data center before, but that changed last week when Larry’s<\/a> son Steve joined the data center ranks! We needed an extra set of hands to move and tear down a lot of our old chassis, and Steve was a willing victim<\/del> volunteer! Lets learn a bit more about our the latest data center acquisition, shall we?<\/p>\n

\nReno, Nevada.<\/p>\n

What attracted you to Backblaze?<\/strong>
\nMy father\u2019s stories of work.<\/p>\n

What do you expect to learn while being at Backblaze?<\/strong>
\nThe work environment of a technology-based company.<\/p>\n

Where else have you worked?<\/strong>
\nThe ballpark of the Reno AAA baseball team, The Aces.<\/p>\n

Where did you go to school?<\/strong>
\nMcQueen High School.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your dream job?<\/strong>
\nMathematics professor.<\/p>\n

Favorite place you\u2019ve traveled?<\/strong>
\nLucerne, Switzerland.<\/p>\n

Favorite hobby?<\/strong>
\nWriting music.<\/p>\n

Of what achievement are you most proud?<\/strong>
\nWinning state bowl championships seven times.<\/p>\n

\nYou see, that would be like trying to decide between Coke or Pepsi.<\/p>\n

Why do you like certain things?<\/strong>
\nI like certain things that I\u2019m good at, for example: math and music.<\/p>\n

Anything else you\u2019d like you\u2019d like to tell us?<\/strong>
\nMy eventual goal in mathematics is to earn a Ph.D. I would like to use this to work as a professor or for a government agency like NASA.<\/p>\n

Since Steve can’t decide between Star Wars and Star Trek or Coke and Pepsi, let’s decide for him! We think he looks like a Star Trek and Pepsi kind of guy. Either way, we’re happy to have a new operations intern in the mix and we know he’ll do a bang-up job in the data center!
