The hiring continues at Backblaze (anyone know a good Senior Automation Engineer<\/a>?), and the newest addition to the team is Jim! Jim’s joining the Marketing team as the Director of Marketing! It’s been a while since our team has grown and we couldn’t be more excited! Let’s learn a bit more about Jim, shall we?<\/p>\n

What is your Backblaze title?<\/strong>
\nDirector of Marketing.<\/p>\n

Where are you originally from?<\/strong>
\nFor simplicity’s sake, we\u2019ll say the Los Angeles area, but before then, Alaska and Illinois.<\/p>\n

What attracted you to Backblaze?<\/strong>
\nBackblaze has a great product and team that matches my interests and ethos. It\u2019s always been important to me to be part of a company whose service I want to use and share with others.<\/p>\n

Where else have you worked?<\/strong>
\nI most recently worked at BorrowLenses heading up their Marketing team and later, Shutterfly, post the BorrowLenses acquisition.<\/p>\n

Where did you go to school?<\/strong>
\nUniversity of California at Santa Barbara.<\/p>\n

Favorite place you\u2019ve traveled?<\/strong>
\nI cannot pick just one, but Yosemite National Park, Glacier National Park, Switzerland, and Costa Rica are among my favorite locations.<\/p>\n

Favorite hobby?<\/strong>
\nPhotography, but I\u2019d call it more of an addiction than hobby.<\/p>\n

Of what achievement are you most proud?<\/strong>
\nAs cheesy as it sounds, the day each of my sons were born.<\/p>\n

\nYes.<\/p>\n

Coke or Pepsi?<\/strong>
\nRoot Beer.<\/p>\n

Favorite food?<\/strong>
\nPizza!<\/p>\n

\nI don\u2019t recommend Shirling.<\/p>\n

Yes. Shirling. Not great. We are glad to read that the stance on “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” is rightfully neutral.
