Create and Set up an Account

To use Backblaze Computer Backup, your first step is to sign up for a Backblaze account.

Account usernames and passwords must conform to the following criteria:

• Must be les than or equal to 99 characters in length.
• Must not contain ASCII control characters.
• A password can contain multiple instances of the 'at sign' (@), but an email address can have only one instance.
• Does not begin with or end with a space character.

When you sign up for an account, you can select a data region. You can also Set Up Extended Version History and Enable Two-Factor Authentication.

Install the Client

After you set up your Backblaze account, install the client on your computer to automatically back up your data.

Configure Settings

After you install the software on your computer, you can configure and optimize settings and system preferences such as setting up a backup schedule, configuring performance and power settings, and assigning exclusions.
